⚓ From the Helm⚓

Island life is warming up as we sail into the summer months 🌞. The sea is still crystal clear, the water’s invitingly warm, and there’s that familiar hum of activity around the island that reminds us why we love this place so much.

The jetty jumpers have all but disappeared, thanks to a clever bit of engineering that’s made roof-jumping nearly impossible (except for the bravest and bendiest of our youth!). That counts me out as I’m flat out jumping off the back of my boat these days! 🚤

The community is also gearing up for another round of Trick or Treat fun this Halloween 🎃. You’ll find a link below to add your home to the map if you’re joining in. I’ll admit, while I resisted Halloween for years, it’s become such a joyful island tradition that I’ve finally decided to get my broomstick out of my backside and… if you can’t beat them, join them! 🧙‍♀️

As always, there’s no shortage of things to do here on Coochie, from paddling with the outriggers to Pickleball at the courts, or simply soaking up the unstructured bliss of swimming, walking, and fishing. However you spend your time, remember, we really do live in paradise. 💙

Coochie Gym Repairs Begin 🛠️

After sustaining significant damage during Cyclone Alfred in March this year 🌪️, the Coochiemudlo Island Gym is finally set to undergo long-awaited repairs! Work will officially begin on Monday, 27th October, with the project expected to take around four weeks to complete.

Before the builders arrive, our island community is coming together once again. A working bee 🧹 will be held on Sunday, 26th October at 10:00am, to help move gym equipment that’s currently in the way of the renovations.

Organisers are hoping the task can be completed within a couple of hours — and every extra pair of hands 🤝 will make a difference.

If you’d like to help, simply turn up on the day.

Let’s get behind this effort and help bring our island gym back to full strength! 💪🏝️

Artist, VALERIE EUGARDE, enjoys Island life for the warmth of its community, the peace and serenity of its beach walks and the quiet sound of waves lapping the shore; all so close to the mainland.

Having only found the time to take up art since retirement, Val has truly found her soul place, creating works radiant with humor and joie de vivre. Constructed with loose playful strokes of the brush and textured applications of thick creamy colour, Val’s subject matter varies from day to day, ranging from funny/ quirky birds and animals to spiritual landscapes, abstracts and also colourful figurative works on canvas, card and found objects.

Val sees our local Galleries as playing an essential role in strengthening the mental health and cultural stimulation of the Island community as well being a place for visitors to enjoy and recognize the diversity of artists living and working on Coochie.
Together with her online presence, Val’s work can be viewed at both Curlew and Ross Street Galleries on the Island.

🙏 Alpha at Pineridge Chapel

Lourens and Lizaan Malan would love to welcome you to join them on a journey of faith — a space to share questions, reflections, and encouragement together.

Alpha is all about exploring life, purpose, and the Christian faith in a safe, open environment. It’s not about having all the answers, it’s about good conversations where everyone’s perspective is valued.

Each Monday night includes a relaxed dinner (complimentary) followed by meaningful discussion. Alpha is completely free, and everyone is welcome.

LADIES TENNIS - with the warmer weather tennis starting at 8am Thursdays. New players welcome. You don't need to be an Ash Barty or Serena Williams, we're not grand slam league by any means.

If you can keep up a bit of a rally come along and join us Thursdays from 8am. $3 for Rec Club members.
