Halloween on Coochie |
Get scared silly! |

Something Spooky Is Stirring on Coochie…On Saturday 31 October, Coochiemudlo Island will undergo a mysterious transformation.
Ordinary children will become witches, pirates, superheroes and creatures yet to be officially identified. Quiet streets will fill with excited voices. And perfectly respectable adults may be found lurking outside their homes with bowls of lollies.
Yes, Halloween is coming to Coochie! 🎃🎃👻👻
From 5pm to 7pm, costumed trick-or-treaters will be making their way around the island, following a special map showing them where treats, surprises and possibly a few harmless frights await.
But here’s the important bit: Halloween only works if people join in.
Residents who would like their home included on the trick-or-treating map are invited to put their hands up by Thursday 29 October.
You don’t need to turn your house into a haunted mansion, although nobody is going to stop you. A few decorations, a bowl of treats and a willingness to greet some very excited small humans will do nicely. There’s another way to get involved too.
Volunteers are needed to create a roving scare experience around the island. We don’t yet know exactly what might emerge from the shadows, which is probably part of the fun.
If you’ve secretly been waiting for permission to dress strangely, leap out dramatically or perfect your most unsettling cackle, this may be your moment.
Halloween on Coochie isn’t really about ghosts or goblins. It’s about neighbours joining in, families wandering the island together and creating one of those wonderfully odd little community memories people will still be laughing about afterwards.
Want your home added to the map, or fancy joining the roving scare crew?
Reply in the comments on the Recreation Club’s Facebook post by 29 October and let them know you’re in.
Come on, Coochie. Let’s give our little monsters a Halloween to remember. 🎃👻

We’ll put our place on the map this year. The kids had such a good time walking around Coochie last Halloween.
